About

What is Divisi Labs anyways?

Divisi Labs was started by Zach Daniels as a means of self-publishing his music for performance, reading, and organizational purposes. The project came to fruition in early 2015 and, since then, has become the home for all of Zach's various side-projects not directly related to composing music.

What do we do?

That's a great question! The truth is, we are always adding new projects and finishing old ones. So even WE aren't entirely certain yet! Areas that Divisi Labs works in include:

New projects are taken on all the time, and we take great pride in what we do. Even if it means sacrificing a little sleep now and again!

Why The Name?

We were having a conversation with colleagues of ours, discussing the importance of a good name when creating a company. Theirs was a perfect combination of showing both variance in output, yet having a strong focus on music. We eventually came upon Divisi as an interesting word to represent what we do. From the merriam-webster dictionary: :
Divisi: separate —used as a direction in music for orchestral players reading the same musical staff to divide into two or more voice parts —abbreviation div.
From there, we added "Labs" for the reason that we, as a unit, are in a lab setting working on our various projects, testing them for top-notch performance.

Logo design came rather naturally after that. The idea was to be simple, yet welcoming. Also, we wanted to ambody a little of what we did. Hence the dividing line through our logo. Our many projects/units are one entity, working on different means toward the same ends:

The production, and maintenance of, high-quality music and the many related devices, tools, and software/web applications deemed necessary by composers and other musicians in today's digitized society.
